Cara Murphy is an internationally acclaimed silversmith, whose current body of work is inspired by the natural environment, creating 'a silver landscape for the dining table'.

Working with a variety of materials, predominantly silver, Cara reinvents a context for silver that summons all the ritual and ceremony of traditional tableware whilst  pushing the boundaries of functionality and context. The resultant pieces are highly sculptural, and harness raw materials to create an innate sense of energy and force.  The work inspires conversation within a silver landscape, that is as disorientating as it is innovative.

Cara trained at Glasgow School of Art and the Royal Collect of Art, and currently leads research in contemporary silversmithing at the Ulster University where she is an Associate Lecturer.

Her silver tableware has received numerous awards both in Ireland and abroad and is represented in many public and private collections to include the Silver Trust at Downing Street, the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, the Shipley Art Gallery, Aberdeen Art Gallery, the Arts Council an Chomhairle Ealaoin and the Irish Embassy.
