Balance Bowls by Cora Cummins are fired numerous times with a series of colour washes using slips and underglaze. This process continues until the correct balance is brought about. It is a striving for inner balance that drives Cora in the making of these balance bowls. Pulling forward and pushing back colour, to achieve visual balance but also as a means to control inner thoughts from overwhelming her mind. The whole process from the slow and repetitive way of slab and coil building and the delicate colour washes becomes an outward expression of her personal meditation.
