Lucinda Robertson, a blown glass artist who has been working in Ireland for many years and specialises in tableware. Lucinda developed her practice while working for various studios in Japan, Sweden and Denmark. She is strongly influenced by the Scandinavian ethos of ‘less is more’ and by East Africa with its vivid landscape, where she grew up.
Free blown glass allows her to find expression, whereby the molten glass is gathered from the furnace on the end of a blowpipe, shaped by hand using a damp paper pad and then inflated. In so doing, each piece develops its own soul due to slight variations in size and profile, thus highlighting the handmade quality of the work. Ergonomically designed with the end user in mind, each piece is aesthetically pleasing and comfortable to use.
