Irish Settle Bed in excellent condition with all the original parts intact except the feet. It is worth noting the panelling on the front is continued on the back, the maker therefore intending it to be recognised for its quality. The seat pulls out to transform this settle into a bed, which was traditionally filled with straw for the ultimate night’s sleep! There is an old repair to one of the arms, using a rough piece of metal but this is very typical of furniture from this time and is all part of the charm. The transforming element is frequently seen in Irish cottage furniture from this period and was purely practical as a result of limited space in small Irish farm houses or cottages.
